Overview

A turn-key power plant, built in partnership

Terminal Yapı is developing a natural-gas combined-cycle power plant in Uzbekistan as the investor. Engineering, procurement and construction are delivered by REEX EPC GmbH of Hamburg as the EPC contractor, a specialist that has designed, built and commissioned turn-key power plants across the world for decades.

Together the partnership covers a broad capacity range, from around 30 MW up to 800 MW, while its combined-cycle references reach as high as 1,300 MW. This page sets out how the technology works, what an EPC scope covers, and the proven track record our EPC contractor brings to the project.

The technology

How a combined-cycle plant works

A combined-cycle plant draws power twice from the same natural gas: first from a gas turbine, then from the steam its exhaust creates.

1

Gas turbine

Natural gas is burned to spin a gas turbine and its generator, producing the first block of electricity.

2

Heat-recovery boiler (HRSG)

The turbine's hot exhaust, which would otherwise be wasted, is captured to raise high-pressure steam.

3

Steam turbine

That steam drives a second, steam-turbine stage, producing additional power from the same fuel and raising overall efficiency to around 55-60%.
